Pure Political Rant Here

Posted in Politics, Rants, Taz with tags , , , , , , , , , , on April 29, 2008 by tazspaz

Okay, I must preface this time with I’m an Independent (albeit in Republican clothing for a long time now) and am not a Democrat.  I was disillusioned by Democrats back in the ’90’s.  Currently I have voted in my state’s primary for Senator McCain.

Okay, to the matter at hand.  Drop it all ready!  Sheesh, just as I didn’t want to listen to the Clinton/Lewinsky debacle ad nauseam I don’t need to hear about Obama/Rev. Wright!

Heck seriously, if Hillary keeps swinging them this low and using Rev. Wright to do her dirty work I say we bring Lewinsky back up and drag her decision(s) during that time into the picture.  Let’s ask why the Clinton’s turned to Rev. Wright in their time of need during the scandal of Lewinsky and how Hillary has so easily distanced herself now by saying “he would not have been my pastor”.  These allegations surrounding Rev. Wright are not new.

Do some research folks:
The Political Inquirer

So, I admire Senator Obama’s desire to pull punches instead of deliver them.  That time has however passed us by.  Now I say, if she want’s to fight dirty it’s time to play dirty.  No need to do mud slinging, it is time to pull out her own words:

She lied about running from gunfire, not once, not twice but on four separate distinct occasions.  Meaning she wasn’t “very tired” at all four of those enunciations.  She has over stated her resume and in fact Senator Obama has more years in elected office than Senator Clinton to date.

She has changed her position on the war, was pro-NAFTA (but ahem isn’t now), her health plan didn’t make it off the proverbial steps the first time, and it won’t grow legs and go anywhere because it is STILL too radical to make it through congress.  However she has clearly stated her plan is “The Plan” to go by and would reintroduce it if she became President.   She has been skipping out on bills, you know because you want to help the working class and small businesses by skipping out on your owed debt.

So when someone, continually lies, changes position on key items, and doesn’t know when to quit/change (personal lapses in judgment aside ahem) let me ask you, is that the type of person you really want to give the “football” to and have them lead the team?  Oh wait, I live in Texas where we bring back players to destroy our teams chances and run correctional facilities for other teams!!  Seriously though, is that the person you really want running the country?

By the way …

Gas Prices and Oil

Posted in Politics, Rants, Taz with tags , , , , , on April 29, 2008 by tazspaz

So with the oil market leveling a bit in the playing field and the dollar starting a come back (to little to late perhaps?) when will these effects affect our prices at the pump?

Seems you hear a hiccup at a refinery and the oil prices jump drastically higher.  You hear about reasons it is dropping (oil losing ground in the markets today) and it takes weeks to see things change.  That only after continued ‘good’ news.  One work slow-down, refinery fire, etc and they pop right back up.

You can find one of the articles that spurned me on today here.  Enjoy today’s rant?

Microsoft Bid for Yahoo – Deadline Passes

Posted in Rants, Taz with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on April 28, 2008 by tazspaz

So as many of you are aware, those that pay attention to the markets anyhow, the deadline for the buy-out offer from Microsoft has passed.  Yahoo! is still standing firm saying they are worth at least $40 a share.

Now here is my Rant!

Is Yahoo! in the know on something the rest of the market AND regular day people like you and I have no clue about?  Is Microsoft really undercutting and driving down Yahoo!’s value?  To answer these questions I guess we would want to see how Yahoo!’s stock has performed for the past 3 years right?  Okay lets do that:

(Okay I’m bad, using Microsoft Money to track market changes for Yahoo! here)

Okay so we see on the chart that the last time they even SAW a $40 price per share ($40.23 actually) was in November 2005.  Perhaps I haven’t looked far enough back right, you know to see the gem of a deal they think they are?  Lets go back 5 years now.  Nope, November 2005 is still the best at $40.23).  Wow, I must really be missing something here.  Let’s think about this for a moment even if I was to look back and try and see where they are coming from going back 10 years I still don’t see where they think that they can make $40 per share or more in the near (say 3 years) future?  Yes before and briefly into 2000 they did well.  As we all remember (and sorry if I make you shudder) the .com bust of our age revalued Yahoo!  Since  June of 2006 Yahoo! has been unable to break and run up to $35 per share.  Seriously the offer from Microsoft was a fair one.

Now they are faced with a hostile take over or a steady decline for some time.  Should have taken the offer, Beavis.

Senator Clinton wins PA vote, narrowly.

Posted in Politics, Rants, Taz with tags , , , , , , , , on April 24, 2008 by tazspaz

So where is all the media hype now?

Okay, so Senator Clinton won the popular vote and what a dozen or so more of the pledged delegates than Senator Obama.  Remember what all the political analysts were saying though?  She had to win by a landslide for it to be enough in her favor to make sense not to drop out.

Instead, read the papers yesterday and today, what do you see there now?  Here are some recent headlines:
Washington Post reads: “Trouble Ahead for Obama”
New York Times reads:  “Hillary’s Smack Down”
Dallas Morning News reads:  “Clinton Buys Time with Pennsylvania Win”

If you go searching around the web the tone changed.  Funny thing is it appears that it was Senator Clinton herself that changed the media’s tune.  Why do I say that?  Read some of the articles from April 21st-22nd and you will see where she states “a win is a win” and that it really isn’t about the margins.

I do have to give credit though to the Dallas Morning News as they seemed to take a more somber approach to the win in PA for Senator Clinton.

For those of you that haven’t read my blog before, I’m an Independent and voted for McCain in my state’s primary.  I seem to be following the Democratic primary lately and the only reason I can find for it isn’t my Independent leaning ways at all.  It’s more akin to a lawyer chasing an ambulance or watching a train wreck coming toward you.  You know it’s messy but for some reason you have to keep watching.

PA Voting

Well, I admit, I was wrong.

Personally I think her first 8 years as President was bad enough.  I mean come on folks … who really wears the pants in that relationship?

Have a good day!

Vote Today in PA!

Posted in Politics, Rants, Taz with tags , , , , , , , on April 22, 2008 by tazspaz

So how many believe that Obama will win today?
How many are pulling for Clinton in the democratic primary?
How many Republicans are voting today?

USA Today  has a site telling you when each state has its primary, details on results, and of course links to candidate news.

My prediction is Obama by a very slim margin for the Democrats.

I like to say my affiliation is Independent, however, I voted for McCain in my state’s primary election.

Let the flaming begin.  lol
