Welcome to 2009!

Posted in Rants, Taz with tags , , , , , , on January 2, 2009 by tazspaz

Welcome to 2009!!

This year there is a need for many changes.  I don’t just say this because, personally, I want changes.  I say this because the world has gone to hell in a hand basket!

War, political tensions, finances – to include government/markets/business/individual, and complete idiocy world wide.

2009 is the year of changes geopolitically; and if you chose to it is the year of personal financial changes.

2009 is not the year for the world financial markets.  This would in turn mean it is most likely not the year of “turn around” for most businesses either.  It is not the year for the markets to make a drastic turn around.  Are we seeing a trend here?  This is not the year for the governmental budgets (Federal, State, nor Local) to become balanced; no matter how much we desire that.

What do I mean by geopolitically; simply put we all will see changes.  Regardless of your geography, demography, economics, and most importantly in foreign policies of nations.  Now I’m not geopolitical college grad, nor am I the smartest match stick in the box at times albeit.  However, if you do not see these changes already steamrolling ahead beware, you’re about to get run over by a very large train!

As for personal financial changes, up to the individual of course, I feel that we all need to look at our personal finances.  Learn from the past decade of financial debauchery.  How do you see your finances?  Do you see being able to retire when you’d like to retire.  Be realistic about your retirement age when thinking about this.  Did you know if you were just to put away $25 a week you could live off the dividends by the time you’re around 35?  Why not start that now?  How did you fair with your 401k/personal investments; is it time to make changes there for your future?

Regardless of where you stand today please know that 2009 is a new year.  You can start now no matter your situation.  Become prepared for your future and the looming changes in the years ahead.

Happy New Year to you and yours!

Audio Unearthed OBAMA and the Coal Industry!

Posted in Politics, Rants, Taz with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , on November 2, 2008 by tazspaz

This post provided for you to start making more informed choices. Why is it that so many comments such as this are being swept under the rug by main stream media?
Higher taxes for middle class
Bankrupting of key industry/infrastructure
Socialism ideas (dating back to hi Harvard school days)
Change of church’s ONLY AFTER being called out on the issue(s)

Sheesh people, seriously, are any of you informed? Do you know who ACTUALLY signs the budgetary laws? What branch of government is responsible for spending? Stop looking to Presidential policies and start looking at the history of Congress.

Here is the text of the audio:
Let me sort of describe my overall policy.

What I’ve said is that we would put a cap and trade system in place that is as aggressive, if not more aggressive, than anybody else’s out there.

I was the first to call for a 100% auction on the cap and trade system, which means that every unit of carbon or greenhouse gases emitted would be charged to the polluter. That will create a market in which whatever technologies are out there that are being presented, whatever power plants that are being built, that they would have to meet the rigors of that market and the ratcheted down caps that are being placed, imposed every year.

So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can; it’s just that it will bankrupt them because they’re going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that’s being emitted.

That will also generate billions of dollars that we can invest in solar, wind, biodiesel and other alternative energy approaches.

The only thing I’ve said with respect to coal, I haven’t been some coal booster. What I have said is that for us to take coal off the table as a (sic) ideological matter as opposed to saying if technology allows us to use coal in a clean way, we should pursue it.

So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can.

It’s just that it will bankrupt them.

Is it just me or do you see the misdirection that has been part of Obama’s life/career?  If not look above and start with “The only thing I’ve said with respect to coal…” and end with “It’s just that it will bankrupt them.” from there do some research.  Seems many of those in Harvard with him also complained on how it always seemed that he always made each group feel like he’d side with them.

Wow, the more I get involved with politics the more it is apparent that we need a 3rd and maybe even 4th political party.  Ugh!

Sen. McCain vs. Sen. Obama?

Posted in Rants, Taz, Technical with tags , , , , , , , , , , on September 25, 2008 by tazspaz

Earlier today I found a question about someone asking for Sen. McCain’s accomplishments.  I was looking for more specifics on Sen. McCain vs. Sen. Obama.

As I see it we can point fingers OR we can look at facts:
Sen. Obama’s recorded votes
Sen. McCain’s recorded votes

Now my question is what do you see as the difference in their records?  Who has a better track record for consistency, missed votes, who votes primarily with the party vs. bipartisan, etc.?

I’m trying to form a better understanding of why one would pick a specific candidate over the other?

As you can see from my site I have already chosen which candidate I plan on voting for but wonder on what other grounds someone chooses a candidate.  I go by their record, and want to thank The Washington Post for such a comprehensive listing.

Other helpful sites:

And many more.  Please feel free to respond with open access lists such as this that track all actions, not just the ones you (dis)agree with.

Make Sure to Vote and Help the Government Budget!

How To Save The Government $5 Million

A president’s pension currently is $191,300 per year.
Assuming the next president lives to age 80. Sen McCain would receive ZERO pension as he would reach 80 at the end of two terms as president. Sen Obama would be retired for 26 years after two terms and would receive $4,973,800 in pension.
Therefore it would certainly make economic sense to elect McCain in November.
How’s that for non-partisan thinking???

Seriously, I’m Tired.

Seriously, get back to the issues and stop talking about who is better than who because of their friends etc. Where is the REAL talk about the economy, foreign affairs, war, federal budget, etc?  Not well it’s so and so fault, or “See me flex (Heck Arnold isn’t even running for President so stop it!) as I talk down to other foreign countries” etc.

Talk real issues, with real results.  What have you accomplished in your past that proves you have the capacity to stick to your guns and get things done as our President?  These are the things I’m concerned about.  You?

The bickering has gone on long enough.  What the Democratic party has proven to me (at least) is that it can’t work together, let alone with the Republicans and “Independents” that are already elected to the House and Senate.  So if infighting is the new “in thing to do” then how is anything going to get done?  Prove you can unity and end this bitter divide and work together.  You just may see a whole lot of Democrats taking up seats all around.  Continue down this road and albeit you will see Democrats starting to lose their current seats.  Don’t be surprised when the Republicans exploit this weakness.  It will be hard to prove otherwise.

So, anyhow, let us get back to the issues Senators.

Our actions lie in the past, unchangeable.  Our choices lie before us.  Choose.

Pure Political Rant Here

Posted in Politics, Rants, Taz with tags , , , , , , , , , , on April 29, 2008 by tazspaz

Okay, I must preface this time with I’m an Independent (albeit in Republican clothing for a long time now) and am not a Democrat.  I was disillusioned by Democrats back in the ’90’s.  Currently I have voted in my state’s primary for Senator McCain.

Okay, to the matter at hand.  Drop it all ready!  Sheesh, just as I didn’t want to listen to the Clinton/Lewinsky debacle ad nauseam I don’t need to hear about Obama/Rev. Wright!

Heck seriously, if Hillary keeps swinging them this low and using Rev. Wright to do her dirty work I say we bring Lewinsky back up and drag her decision(s) during that time into the picture.  Let’s ask why the Clinton’s turned to Rev. Wright in their time of need during the scandal of Lewinsky and how Hillary has so easily distanced herself now by saying “he would not have been my pastor”.  These allegations surrounding Rev. Wright are not new.

Do some research folks:
The Political Inquirer

So, I admire Senator Obama’s desire to pull punches instead of deliver them.  That time has however passed us by.  Now I say, if she want’s to fight dirty it’s time to play dirty.  No need to do mud slinging, it is time to pull out her own words:

She lied about running from gunfire, not once, not twice but on four separate distinct occasions.  Meaning she wasn’t “very tired” at all four of those enunciations.  She has over stated her resume and in fact Senator Obama has more years in elected office than Senator Clinton to date.

She has changed her position on the war, was pro-NAFTA (but ahem isn’t now), her health plan didn’t make it off the proverbial steps the first time, and it won’t grow legs and go anywhere because it is STILL too radical to make it through congress.  However she has clearly stated her plan is “The Plan” to go by and would reintroduce it if she became President.   She has been skipping out on bills, you know because you want to help the working class and small businesses by skipping out on your owed debt.

So when someone, continually lies, changes position on key items, and doesn’t know when to quit/change (personal lapses in judgment aside ahem) let me ask you, is that the type of person you really want to give the “football” to and have them lead the team?  Oh wait, I live in Texas where we bring back players to destroy our teams chances and run correctional facilities for other teams!!  Seriously though, is that the person you really want running the country?

By the way …

Gas Prices and Oil

Posted in Politics, Rants, Taz with tags , , , , , on April 29, 2008 by tazspaz

So with the oil market leveling a bit in the playing field and the dollar starting a come back (to little to late perhaps?) when will these effects affect our prices at the pump?

Seems you hear a hiccup at a refinery and the oil prices jump drastically higher.  You hear about reasons it is dropping (oil losing ground in the markets today) and it takes weeks to see things change.  That only after continued ‘good’ news.  One work slow-down, refinery fire, etc and they pop right back up.

You can find one of the articles that spurned me on today here.  Enjoy today’s rant?
